There is so much of the underwater world for you to explore. There are thousands of wrecks and reefs hidden at depths that you may not yet be able to reach without further training and experience.
You can add more adventure to your dives and head deeper into the aquatic world by advancing your diving skills with the GUE Recreational Diver 2 course.
This course is structured to prepare divers for deeper recreational diving up to 100 ft/30 m. It teaches divers to navigate underwater and how to help a team member in distress while using efficient diving skills and advanced breathing mixtures, such as triox.
This course is for divers who have completed Recreational Diver 1 or a GUE Fundamentals course at the “recreational” level and have completed at least 25 non-training dives are welcome to take Recreational Diver 2.
Course outcomes include, but are not limited to: basic skill cultivation and refinement, familiarity with the theory and practice of minimum decompression dives, correct ascent procedures, reduced ambient light diving protocols, compass and natural navigation, diver rescue (on land, at the surface and underwater), emergency management, and the use of helium to minimize narcosis, CO2, gas density challenges, and post-dive “nitrogen stress” .
The Recreational Diver 2 course is usually conducted over five days and includes 11 dives and at least 40 hours of instruction, encompassing classroom, land drills, and in-water work.
Applicants for a Recreational Diver Level 2 course must:
- Submit a completed Course Registration Form, a Medical History Form, and Liability Release Form to GUE HQ.
- Hold insurance that will cover diving emergencies such as hyperbaric treatment, e.g., DAN Master-level insurance or equivalent.
- Be physically and mentally fit.
- Be a nonsmoker.
- Obtain a physician’s prior written authorization for the use of prescription drugs, exceptfor birth control, or for any medical condition that may pose a risk while diving.
- Be a minimum of 16 years of age. Documented parental or legal guardian consent mustbe submitted to GUE HQ when the participant is a minor.
- Be a certified GUE Recreational Diver Level 1 or GUE Fundamentals diver.
- Have completed at least 25 non-training dives beyond either GUE Recreational DiverLevel 1 or GUE Fundamentals certification.
